Keeping Our Communities Safe with CHLOREP
Kuehne Company recently sent five courageous members of the production team to participate in a CHLOREP training at the Mississippi State Fire Academy. The training involves two days of classroom learning, followed by another two days of hands-on practice for real-world hazardous scenarios.
Mr. Ernest Nepa and Mr. Brian Cleary, both Production Supervisors at Kuehne, led a course on cylinder capping kits as well as an unloading rack exercise.

John D’Alterio leads a Water Treatment Plant exercise in which a team prepares a B-Kit.

Tyrone Curry fills out his daily critique after a day of training exercises.
Mr. John D’Alterio, Special Projects Coordinator, instructed ton container capping kit and Wastewater Emergency training exercises.
Attending this year were also two students from Kuehne. Mr. Dennis Silva, Chlorine Repackager, and Mr. Tyrone Curry, B Operator.
Mr. Nepa has been attending the training sessions at the Mississippi State Fire Academy for 9 years now. He was excited to see that there were even students from Mexico in attendance this year (with translators). He says he enjoys learning the information and being able to pass it on to increase awareness regarding chlorine emergency situations. He also credits the chlorine institute for producing pamphlets that raise awareness about safe chlorine handling.
Mr. Nepa goes on to say that the real-life experiences are important aspects of the training. Students are placed in smokey rooms (smoke is produced by a fog machine) and asked to assemble the kits with low visibility.
Kuehne is prepared and willing to respond to any chlorine emergency, even if our own products are not involved. Our team is dedicated to keeping our communities safe.

John D’Alterio demonstrates how to correctly apply the ton container capping kit (B Kit).

Brian Cleary leads a hands-on exercise in which students apply an A Kit.
