South Kearny Safety Day
First, I would like to say, that this day was successful, due to the incredible Team we have here at Kearny. Not only did the Safety Squad participate with the activities, but others went out of their way to help. Trust me, it was appreciated.
Second, out of a total of 86 employees at this facility, 47 people were able to attend. Thank you to all the Supervisors/Managers that covered so that the personnel could attend.
Third, I was happy to see that the Safety Bingo was completed by 27 employees, who received gift cards for Starbucks.

Members of the IT team, Customer Service, Lab Techs, and others enjoy some time together at Safety Day.

I have sent a short email to the USCG for attending our Safety Day. They did say that our Facility was well maintained, efficient and they enjoyed themselves. Also, they appreciated the tour by Rich Wilkes. They let me know that John Mendez did give them a well explained briefing on the escape respirator as well as our Alarm System.
Safety Day Activities
The day started off with a welcoming speech from our President Zach Kuehne, then I spoke briefly about National Safety Month and the activities for that day. JJ Hillin and Brendan Dolan from the US Coast Guard NY Sector, discussed Cyber Security and also Maritime activities for the NY Sector as well as the waterways and keeping them safe.
Everyone enjoyed the Tacos, from Tacos Is Life, followed by Danny’s Soft Serve. To balance out the wellness portion that Kuehne participates in we served assorted fruit and bottled water.
Each employee was required to sign a Safety Pledge, sign in on a sign-in sheet, watch videos on Slips, Trips & Falls, and Ergonomics/Lifting, and complete a short quiz, which gave each employee credit for their monthly training.

A Team Effort
Thank you to Mario Cifuentes for snapping pictures of the day that will be added to the New Safety Banner, which also included some of your kids handprints. More to come on the unveiling
We also had Brenda and Lynette onsite with their display, regarding a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Thank you, Ladies.
We ended off the day with the Give-A Way. For those of you that have received your gift, we hope you enjoyed them, for those who haven’t received them yet, I won’t spoil the surprise.
Again, Thank You.
Have a Safe and Healthy Summer and Remember – Safety First…..
Respectfully,
Linda Kelly
